Neighborhood Development Center (NDC)
San Jose’s Neighborhood Development Center (NDC) provides the community with access to tools and resources to assist new and established neighborhood groups and leaders with their organizing efforts.
San Jose Neighborhoods Commission
The 30-member Neighborhoods Commission was seated on June 2, 2009, by the San Jose City Council. The Commission shall integrate the voice of neighborhoods into the City’s decision-making processes; study issues, courses of action, policies, and programs that affect neighborhood quality of life; make recommendations to Council and Redevelopment Agency; and empower neighborhoods. Community Leadership Academy (CLA) trainings are available to neighborhood organizations at a site in their neighborhood.
Neighbors in the Chambers (NIC)
These training series is a collaboration of the Neighborhood Development Center, the Strong Neighborhoods Initiative, neighborhood leaders and the Office of the City Clerk aimed at assisting participants in developing tools to become more effective and informed advocates on behalf of their communities as well as helping participants become more comfortable in engaging city government by de-mystifying the policy making process.

Community Action and
Pride (CAP) Grants
|
CAP grants support neighborhood groups to provide projects, services and activities in their neighborhood that foster or enhance safety, reduce blight and crime, and improve the quality of life in a neighborhood. Grants range from $500-$15,000 and are awarded for one year.

Keep San Jose Beautiful
|
This program focuses on educating San Jose residents on a wide variety of beautification and environmental issues aimed at improving the quality of life in the City of San Jose. The Keep San Jose Beautiful Program administers Beautification Grants, the Daffodil and Native Bulb Program and the Community Improvement Awards.
