San José Fire Department entered into a contract with Brycer, LLC on May 23, 2018, utilizing “The Compliance Engine” to efficiently track the maintenance and testing of fire & life safety systems in
San José, effective on September 1, 2018. On July 27, 2018, notices were sent via USPS to over 500 ITM (Inspection, testing and maintenance) companies working in Northern California inviting inspectors and staff to attend a Town Hall meeting held on August 14 or 15, 2018.
This web-based service will aggregate, track and streamline the collection of compliance data of Fire & Life Safety Systems within the San José Fire Department’s jurisdiction. Property owners will receive timely proactive notifications of their testing requirements, and the San José Fire Department will gain the ability to better mitigate the risk in our community by improving public safety for our citizens.
Certified contractors who perform
inspection, testing and/or maintenance services on fire & life safety
systems within the City of San José are required to submit
compliant and non-compliant reports on approved forms, electronically via The
Compliance Engine (www.thecomplianceengine.com). All reports must be
submitted in accordance with the testing schedule and requirements outlined in
the San José Municipal Code
Section 17.12 which is based on the adopted California Fire Code, with
amendments based on local requirements.
There is a $15 processing fee to be paid by the contractor to Brycer,
