University

The University neighborhoods, which surround San Jose State University, are comprised of homes built from the mid 19th to the early 20th century with a number of homes on the historic register. Among the oldest communities in San José, this eclectic neighborhood boasts a mix of Victorians, farm houses, Craftsman, Neo-Classic Bungalow, multiple-family dwellings and small businesses. The University area has many important assets and much promise along with critical needs. The University Neighborhoods Revitalization Plan is designed to focus City services and programs on making comprehensive neighborhood improvements identified by community members. Combining the strengths of the community with the resources of the City is helping this community reach its full potential as a lively and livable place.
