What is Strong Neighborhoods?
Established by the City Council in 2002, the Strong Neighborhoods is a comprehensive neighborhood revitalization program led by the City of San Jose, the San Jose Redevelopment Agency, and the community to build clean, safe and attractive neighborhoods with strong, independent, and capable organizations.
The core Strong Neighborhoods strategy is to provide meaningful and visible change in each of its 13 focus neighborhood areas by achieving four key goals.
Remove Barriers to Neighborhood Action
Stabilize Neighborhoods in Crisis
Neighborhood Action
Resources to Priorities

These goals emerged from the Strong Neighborhoods planning processes whereby neighborhood improvement plans for each neighborhood established key priorities throughout the project area.
As of 2010, over $104 million of Redevelopment funds and $32 million of City funds have been invested as part of Strong Neighborhoods to improve the physical capital and services in those neighborhoods.
